DAO stands for “Decentralised Autonomous Organisation.” DAOs are communities that use blockchain technology to gather over the Internet around a common idea or goal. DAOs typically have their own tokens that serve as membership cards, and community members can use them to vote on the DAO’s plans. Decentralised finance projects adopt DAO structures, but DAOs have also launched for other purposes like collecting art and raising funds for social causes.
